Begin by choosing a page together. Use the audio once as a prompt, then invite the child to point, name, predict, or connect the picture to an experience. Finish with one sentence about what they noticed; repetition can happen later without pressure.
Respect the Setting
In shared spaces, keep volume comfortable and follow teacher, caregiver, airline, venue, and local safety requirements. In vehicles, the activity should never distract the driver; in a classroom, it should fit the educator’s routine and supervision plan. A travel or public-setting suggestion is not a transport-safety instruction.
Why Conversation Matters
Shared reading works best as a back-and-forth interaction. The pen can replay sound, while an adult supplies context, questions, reassurance, and a decision about when to pause. If the child is tired, overwhelmed, or uninterested, choosing another time is a successful adjustment.
